When you add quiz questions to a 3D model in Human Studio, your model and your quiz become interconnected. As a result, there are more variables to consider when publishing your quiz for use outside the app.
Depending on the view mode you select in Studio and whether you enable Assessment Mode in Publish, you have the ability to publish not one, not two, but three different types of quizzing experiences for your learners.
Publish a hybrid "self-study + knowledge check" experience
If you are interested in using the same 3D model or tour to both 1) teach specific concepts to learners and 2) enable them to self-test their retention of those concepts, use the settings listed below to publish a hybrid self-study + knowledge check experience.
Note: If you neither change your view mode when building your quiz in Studio nor enable Assessment Mode when publishing, this will be the default experience for your quiz.

Assessment mode selection in Publish |
When your View Mode is set to View & Quiz and Assessment Mode is disabled (unchecked) in the Publish window, learners will experience your published quiz as follows:
- When the published model loads, the learner enters in View mode.
- The learner can enter Quiz mode at any time by clicking on the Take Quiz button at the top of the Viewer, to the right of the toolbar.
- At the end of the quiz, the learner selects See Results and is presented with their score. They can also download the results as a PDF or see a summary of their results by question.
- On the summary page, the learner can return to View mode by selecting Exit Quiz, or they can select Take Again to retake the quiz. (Alternatively, they can return to View mode and select Take Quiz anytime.) They can retake the quiz as many times as they would like.
Publish a standalone knowledge check
If you would like to use a 3D model or tour to enable learners to self-test their retention of concepts learned in other learning materials, use the settings listed below to publish a hybrid self-study/practice quiz experience.

Assessment mode selection in Publish |
When your View Mode is set to Quiz only and Assessment Mode is disabled (unchecked) in the Publish window, learners will experience your published quiz as follows:
- When the published model loads, the learner enters in quiz mode.
- At the end of the quiz, the learner selects See Results and is presented with their score. They can also download the results as a PDF or see a summary of their results by question.
- On the summary page, the learner can select Take Again to retake the quiz. They can retake the quiz as many times as they would like.
Warning: The learner cannot access View mode; a Back to View button will not appear on the summary page.
Publish an assessment (graded or ungraded)
If you would like to use a 3D model or tour to assess learners' retention of concepts learned in other learning materials, use the settings listed below to publish a quiz for graded or ungraded assessments.
Tip: If you have access to developers, see our Viewer API documentation to learn how to capture quiz scores. Otherwise, we recommend instructing learners to download their quiz scores at the end of the quiz and share them with you afterward.

Assessment mode selection in Publish |
When the View Mode is set to View & Quiz or Quiz Only and Assessment Mode is enabled (checked) in the Publish window, the published experience will exhibit the following characteristics:
- When the published model loads, the learner enters in quiz mode.
- At the end of the quiz, the learner selects See Results and is presented with their score. They can also download the results as a PDF or see a summary of their results by question.
- Access View mode; a Back to View button will not appear on the score page.
- Retake the quiz; a Take Again button will not appear on the score page.
With Assessment Mode, you also have the option to publish individual quiz questions as a standalone experience. Check the box next to Assessment Mode, select Single question, and select the question number you would like to publish. To publish additional quiz questions as individual experiences, repeat these steps for each quiz question you want to publish, selecting a different question number each time.
- Summary page (even if this option is enabled in your quiz settings)
- The Next Question button after the learner submits an answer
- Quiz progress indicator (only "Question 1" will appear)
- The Take Again button at the end of the quiz
- The Back to View button at the end of the quiz
