June 2025: VR enhancements, including faster login, new multi-user modes, and more

This quarter, we have launched a robust set of updates in the BioDigital Human VR app. From a refreshed interface to streamlined headset authentication, these improvements will make your immersive learning experience even more intuitive, comfortable, and collaborative than ever.

Read on to explore what's new in Q2.

Simplified login with headset registration

Most notably, an email and password are no longer required to access the VR app, saving time for new and returning users alike.

With our new device registration feature, a team Administrator generates a code that team members use to complete a one-time registration step in their headset. Once registered, the headset is automatically recognized each time the app is launched—no login required.

See Register your VR headset with a team code for details.

A refreshed, more responsive user interface

The VR app’s interface has been upgraded, providing a smoother and more modern user experience across the app's core tools:

Labels

Labels have been redesigned with clearer text and improved alignment for better readability from any angle.

Layers tool

Newly upgraded sliders in the Layers tool make it easier to explore anatomical systems layer by layer, now with a visual style that is consistent with the web experience.

New multi-user modes for better collaboration

To support more effective group learning and minimize distractions in Team Learning sessions, we have added two new modes to the interaction panel:

  • Observer mode: Select Hide Avatar to make your avatar translucent, allowing you to occupy the same virtual space as others without blocking their view.
  • Mute mode: Click the new Mute button to mute your microphone—ideal for presentations or large group sessions where clear audio is key.

A more intuitive Teleport experience

We have made two major upgrades to Teleport mode that make navigation more fluid and user-friendly—so you can stay focused on your content, not your controls.

1. Smooth Teleport

Our new Smooth Teleport mode enables you to glide, rather than jump, around your virtual space with ease. Hold the left thumbstick to glide forward, backward, left, or right with with smooth, continuous motion.

Note: The right thumbstick still supports traditional point-to-point teleportation.

2. Reset Player

Tap the new Reset Player button on the floor to instantly reset your view to a convenient, central position near the model.

Streamlined control for object positioning

You can now reposition any selectable object—anatomical structures, panels, or UI elements—anywhere in your field of view. Simply select the object and hold the right thumbstick until the object is in your desired position.

Anatomy v19.5 now in VR

The latest version of our gross anatomy content—Anatomy v19.5—is now fully accessible in VR, bringing our web and VR experiences into alignment.

This version includes:

  • More accurate spatial positioning of the heart, esophagus, and diaphragm
  • Improved anatomical fidelity across multiple body regions
