July 2025 Content Release: Fat and fascia now in 3D

We’re excited to introduce fat and fascia to the BioDigital Human—advancing our mission to provide the most comprehensive and clinically relevant 3D anatomy available.

Fascia system

The new fascia system includes 184 individually selectable structures, offering detailed insight into the connective tissues that support and protect muscles and organs.

Applicable across surgery, rehabilitation, and classroom learning, this update is essential for:

  • Surgeons navigating fascial planes during procedures
  • Physical therapists working to restore movement and reduce pain
  • Sports medicine professionals treating myofascial injuries and dysfunction
  • Anatomy students across disciplines learning about structural integration and layered relationships

Fat system

The new fat system includes 67 individually selectable structures, including:

  • Subcutaneous fat
  • Visceral fat
  • Fat pads of the face

A top request from educators and learners, this system helps you:

  • Understand fat distribution across body regions and sexes
  • Visualize fat in clinical contexts including cosmetic surgery, obesity management, and metabolic health
  • Teach and learn about the role of fat in anatomical structure and function

Where to find the new systems

You’ll find fat and fascia in both our Complete Anatomy models (Male and Female), as well as the following Anatomy by Region models:

You can also access them as standalone models under Anatomy by System:

Tip: Use the Anatomy Search tool to quickly locate and explore the new systems and structures.
