Create and manage labels in Human Studio

About labels

Labels in the BioDigital Human let you add interactive callouts to your 3D model. They are a simple way to provide learners with additional context while keeping attention on the visuals.

Use labels to:

  • Identify key anatomical structures
  • Connect anatomy to its functions
  • Explain the relationship between anatomy and health conditions

 

Add a label

To add a new interactive label to a model: 

  1. Select the    Label icon from the toolbar in the upper-left corner of the 3D canvas.
  2. Click the structure in the model you want to label. A label will appear with the structure’s name as the label title and a plus/minus pin at the placement point.
  3. To change the title, add details, or adjust the style, see Edit a label below.

 

Edit or customize a label

To edit or customize a label in your model, select the select (on the model itself or from the Labels menu on the right) and then use the customization options detailed below.

  • Use the Content tab to modify the label title and description (if available) and even upload complementary media.

    Options include:

    • Title: Modify as desired to identify or describe your model.
    • Description: Click    Add New Block to add text or upload an image, video, or GIF to provide more information about your label. Can be set to show or hide on load (see Interaction tab).

  • Use the Styles tab to adjust the look and feel of your label.

    Options include:

    • Label type: Choose Leader Line or Floating, and position the tag.
    • Pin style: Use Plus/Minus, Circle, or Sequential (A, B, C or 1, 2, 3).
    • Theme: Switch between Light and Dark.
    • Glow: Add a flickering glow to encourage the user to interact.

  • Use the Interaction tab to customize how your label appears when it first loads and how it behaves when the user selects it:

    On Load:

    • Show pin only: Hide the entire label (leaving only the pin) until the pin is clicked.
    • Collapse description: Hide the label's description text until the label title or pin is clicked.

    On Click:

    • Expand label (only available if Show pin only is enabled above): Expand the label when the pin is clicked.
    • Expand description (only available if Collapse description is enabled above): Expand the label's description text when the label or pin is clicked.
    • Highlight entire pin: Highlight both the outside and inside of the label pin (in blue) when the label or pin is clicked. Provides greater visibility to the end user.
    • Select labeled structure: Highlight and zoom to the labeled structure when the label or pin is clicked.
    • Zoom label: Zoom to the labeled structure or to a fixed position of your choice* when the label or pin is clicked.

     

    *To set a fixed zoom position for your label:

    1. Open the drop-down menu under Zoom to and select Zoom to fixed position.
    2. Reposition the model using your mouse, keyboard, or 3D controls.
    3. Click Capture Position in the label pop-up window.

 

Remove a label

You can delete labels individually or all at once:

  • To remove one label at a time:
    1. Find the label in the from the Labels panel.
    2. Click the   drag handle and select Delete.
  • To remove all of the labels in a given chapter at once:
    1. Open the Labels panel.
    2. Click the   three dots and select Remove this chapter’s labels.
    3. (Optional) Repeat for other chapters in your tour.
