April 2023: Add videos to labels and chapter descriptions

First we made it possible to add 2D images to your 3D models, and then we enabled audio. Now you can upload videos to any label or chapter description in Human Studio, allowing you to create a fully immersive, multimedia learning experience without ever having to leave your model or tour.

You can upload one video per label and up to three videos per chapter description in a given model or tour. Our video upload feature also supports numerous file formats and has a generous size limit:

  • Accepted video formats: .mp4, .wmv, .mov, .m4v, .webm, .mpg, .mpeg, .mpe, .m4p, .avi, .flv
  • Maximum file size: 2 GB

The video upload process for videos is very similar to the 2D image upload process. Once you have opened your model in Human Studio, you can add a video to any label from the Labels panel on the right side of your screen.

To add a video to a chapter description, click the Edit Info button in the Chapters panel to open the Content Manager.

Given their typically larger file size, uploading videos entails one additional step that is not required for images: processing. After you have uploaded your video, you will need to wait for it to be processed before streaming it in the app or your published model. The wait time depends on the video’s file format and length. Shorter videos should have a relatively short processing time.

Once your video has been processed, you and your end users can play it—as well as pause, scrub through, and control the volume of it—from the label or information panel. In addition, you can:

  • Expand the video into fullscreen mode for a better view.

  • Pop the video out into picture-in-picture mode and then move it anywhere on your screen!
