The BioDigital Human Widget is now the "Human Viewer," and it’s gone through quite a transformation. We’ve introduced a fresh design (think easier-to-read text, more universal icons, and a livelier color palette), brand-new exploration features, and several user-experience enhancements. Read about the updates below.
User-friendly, responsive layout
We've separated the information panel from the 3D model so the description will never overlap with your model again. Chapter descriptions are now also easier to read against the information panel's new white background.
The information panel used to house only chapter titles and descriptions, but now it's a dedicated resource for all of the contextual information associated with your 3D model (i.e., titles, descriptions, labels, and chapters).
Finally, the width at which the information panel collapses has been updated to conform to the latest device standards, which will provide a more optimal user experience across many more device and screen sizes.

"Expand" button for an immersive, fullscreen experience
The "Fullscreen" / "View in New Window" button has been replaced by a new Expand button in all webpages and browsers where fullscreen mode is enabled. (Safari and other iOS browsers on iPhones do not currently support this feature.)
When available, clicking Expand will open the model in fullscreen mode, spanning the entire screen, instead of opening a new tab. When fullscreen mode is not enabled, users will see a New Tab button instead.
New interaction prompts (opt-in only)
We've redesigned our loading experience, and you now have three options to promote interaction with your 3D models. To add one of these prompts to your already-published models, you can either republish your models with one of these selections enabled, or add the appropriate URL parameter (see below) to your existing BioDigital Human URL(s).

Better "Explore Tools"
Our Explore Tools have been rebuilt and consolidated into a single menu, making them easier to use and bringing more value to the learning experience. These tools (formerly Dissect, Isolate, and X-Ray) now include Select (default), Hide, and Fade.
Besides promoting interaction with the model, the Explore Tools allow end users to identify specific structures, reveal underlying structures, and visualize anatomical relationships.
Keep an eye out for new tools in the upcoming months!
Improved "Help" menu
The Help menu has been upgraded with richer, more user-friendly graphics that illustrate 1) the primary ways to interact with a model ("Navigation Basics") and 2) a comprehensive 3D navigation key that adapts based on the device type ("All Controls").
Navigation Basics
All Controls
Movable label tags
Previously, label tags could only be repositioned by content creators in Human Studio. Now, if a label tag is covering part of the model, end users can drag the tag to move it, enabling them to get a better look at the underlying structures.
Anatomy descriptions (opt-in only)
End users now have the option of reading detailed descriptions of select anatomical structures as they explore. When anatomy descriptions are enabled* and the end user selects an applicable structure, a "Read More" link will appear below the structure's name, and a description will appear in the information panel.
*To enable this feature for your published models, make sure you select Anatomy Descriptions under Display Options when you publish your model, or add the URL parameter &ui-anatomy-descriptions=true to your existing BioDigital Human URL(s).
Label list (opt-in only)
When enabled*, the new label list allows end users to quickly navigate to key learning points on the 3D model.
As the name implies, the label list provides a complete list of all of the labels in a given chapter. When clicked, each label in the list highlights the matching label in the model. If you previously set the label to zoom in on click (see Edit a label in my model), clicking on the label in the label list will trigger the same zooming behavior.
*To enable this feature for your published models, make sure you select Label List under Display Options when you publish your model, or add the URL parameter &ui-label-list=true to your existing BioDigital Human URL(s).
Chapter list (opt-in only)
Just like the label list, the new chapter list provides a complete list of all of the chapters contained within a tour. When enabled*, the chapter list allows end users to quickly jump to a different chapter in the tour, enabling them to skip ahead or return to a previous chapter quickly and easily.
*To enable this feature for your published models, make sure you select Chapter List under Display Options when you publish your model, or add the URL parameter &ui-chapter-list=true to your existing BioDigital Human URL(s).
Anatomy "Search" and anatomy tree
The new Search tool enables end users to search for specific anatomical structures in the 3D model by name. Users can also browse through all of the structures contained in the model in the default list view, or switch to the redesigned anatomy tree and turn on surrounding structures to explore spatial relationships.
Clicking on a structure's name in the list view or anatomy tree will highlight and zoom in on the structure in the model.
Advanced actions for anatomical structures
Instead of opening the Explore Tools and then applying an action to a structure, end users have the option of identifying a structure first and then performing an action on it as they explore (i.e., Select, Hide, Isolate, Fade, or Fly To).
For instance, let's say a user locates the osseous labyrinth of the ear and wants to get a better sense of its shape and its relationship with the structures that surround it. The user can click on the osseous labyrinth in the model, click on the More options button on the label, and then select Fade Everything Else. This will isolate the osseous labyrinth will preserving the context of the surrounding anatomy.
A separate 3D controls menu
The 3D navigation controls have been separated from the rest of the exploration tools and are collapsed by default into a more universally recognizable "location" icon. Together, these updates keep the initial focus on the 3D model but make it easy for end users to locate the primary 3D controls they might need, like zoom, pan, and recenter.
"Reset" button
The new Reset button enables end users to reset the 3D model to its original view without having to reload the page. The Reset button is hidden by default but appears when one of the Explore Tools (i.e., Hide, Isolate, or Fade) has been used.
New auto-rotate experience
When the "Rotate 3D Model" setting is enabled in your published model and the user clicks to interact, the model now returns to its original starting position.
