How to share a model

There are two ways to share 3D models with users outside the BioDigital Human app:

• Use the "Share" function in Explore to share unsaved, uncustomized versions of BioDigital's models via email, a direct link, or social media.
• Use the "Copy URL" function in My Library to share models you have saved or customized via a direct link.

Choose the option that best suits your needs and follow the steps below.

• The Share function in Explore enables you to share 3D models outside the app without requiring you to save them to My Library first. This option is perfect for giving colleagues, friends, or family members a quick preview of what the BioDigital Human has to offer before they sign up for their own account.

  Take the steps below to share a model using the Share function in Explore:

  1. Find a model in Explore that you want to share.
  2. Hover over the model and click the    more options icon at the bottom of the model's tile
  3. Select Share from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select your sharing method:
     • Email: Enter the email addresses of the individuals you would like to share this model with, separated by commas, and click Send Email. Your email will include a preview image and a direct link to the 3D model.
     • Direct link: Click the link icon to copy a link to your browser's clipboard, and paste it wherever you would like to share it.
     • Social media: Click on the Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter icon to share on the social media platform of your choice. A new browser tab will open, and you will be prompted to log in to your social media account and add custom text before posting. Your post will include a preview image and a direct link to the 3D model.

• Note: The option below is only available to members of teams currently subscribed to a School or Business plan.

  Once you have saved a model to My Library, you can publish it for use on a website or in any digital resource. Using our Publish function allows you to customize the published experience using our publishing settings, choose between two available formats for 3D models and one for 2D images, and preview the final model or image.

  However, if you just want to share the model with a friend or colleague, you can save a few steps and use Copy URL instead. The Copy URL tool will copy a published (i.e., public) URL with our default publishing preferences to your browser's clipboard.

  To share a saved model using the Copy URL function:

  1. Find a model in My Library that you want to share.
  2. Hover over the model and click the    more options icon at the bottom of the model's tile.
  3. Select Copy URL from the drop-down menu.
  4. Paste the URL anywhere!

What does the end user see when they open my shared model?

• When a recipient or target audience opens the shared link through any of the sharing methods above, they will be able to take the following actions:

  • View and interact with a watermarked version of the model
    
  • Preview the categories available in Explore
    
  • Sign up for a free account
    

  After 10 seconds of interaction, the user will be prompted to sign up for an account (or, if they already have one, log in) or learn more about the platform.
  

• When a recipient or target audience opens the copied URL, they will be able to view and interact with the model as much as they would like; there are no time limits or restrictions on models shared this way.
