What is a tour?

At its surface, a BioDigital tour is an embeddable slideshow of interactive 3D anatomy, physiology, condition, or treatment visualizations.

But at a deeper level, tours are one of the most powerful educational tools in the BioDigital Human’s authoring toolkit. Made up of individual units called chapters, tours can simplify complex medical topics, increase engagement, and improve knowledge retention across a wide range of audiences.

How tours can be used

Tours can be used in a variety of educational contexts across industries, users, and learner levels. For example:

  • A professor teaching the nervous system can make it easier for students to understand and remember the components of the nervous system—central, peripheral, somatic, and autonomic—by creating a tour with separate chapters for each.
  • A physician can use a tour to help a patient understand their rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis  by visually walking them through the progression from a healthy joint to a mildly inflamed one, and finally to a severely damaged joint.
  • A pharmaceutical rep can use a tour during a conversation with a physician to demonstrate how asthma affects the respiratory system—and how their treatment works to combat this.
